Jerusalem, 18 November, 2019 (TPS) -- US General David Goldfein, Chief of Staff of the US Airforce, over the weekend concluded a visit to Israel during which he met with Israel’s military leaders and with President Reuven Rivlin.

The American general was in Israel as part of the Blue Flag exercise held with the US Air Force and several other armies.

The Blue Flag 2019 included Germany, with the Eurofighter Typhoon, Italy with the F-35, Eurofighters and Gulfstream G-550, and Greece and the US with the F-16, a total of 70 aircraft and approximately 1,000 participants who took part in the widescale fighter exercise.

Goldfein visited the Israeli Air Force and was presented with the “Chief of General Staff” award by IDF Chief of Staff LTG Aviv Kohavi.

The US and Israel “enjoy a strong military partnership, built on trust developed over decades,” Goldfein said.

“What an honor to stand shoulder to shoulder with you and fly with the very best. Congrats on completing the most outstanding Blue Flag exercise to date. We truly are interoperable,” he added.
