water-drawing

In Kiryat Ono, Rabbi Yosef Dov Teitelbaum, also known as the Sassover Rebbe, draws water at dawn for the custom of "mayim shelanu" on April 17, 2024. Water drawn before dawn is often used for baking matza during the days before Passover. Water drawn at dawn represents purity, and its coldness is believed to produce better quality matza. The week-long Passover holiday, which celebrates the Jewish exodus from Egypt, begins on Monday at sundown. Photo by Eitan Elhadez-Barak/TPS
