Ultra-Orthodox Israelis Enjoy Summer in the Park Like Everyone Else

Jerusalem, 19 August, 2024 (TPS) -- Ultra-Orthodox (Haredim) Israelis enjoy their summer breal from yeshiva (Tora academy) studies with their children in Jerusalem’s central Gan Sacher – Sacher Park.

The Haredim enjoy a vacation from their studies in the three weeks after Tisha B’Av (the ninth day of the Hebrew month of Av), a 24 hour fast and day of mourning commemorating the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple by the Romans 2,000 years ago, which fell last Tuesday.
