Senior Hezbollah Figures Killed With Nasrallah Identified

Public By Pesach Benson • 29 September, 2024

Jerusalem, 29 September, 2024 (TPS) -- More than 20 additional senior Hezbollah terrorists of varying ranks were killed with Hassan Nasrallah in Friday’s airstrike in Beirut, the Israel Defense Forces disclosed on Sunday.

Among the terrorists eliminated, were Ibrahim Hussein Jazini, Head of Nasrallah’s Security Unit; Samir Tawfiq Dib, Nasrallah’s long-time confidant and advisor on terrorist activities; Abed al-Amir Muhammad Sablini, Head of Hezbollah’s Force-Build Up; and Ali Naaf Ayoub, who was responsible for coordinating Hezbollah’s firepower.

Jazini and Dib were among Nasrallah’s closest associates. Due to their proximity to him, they served a significant role in the day-to-day operations of Hezbollah and with Nasrallah in particular.

Hezbollah confirmed that Ali Karaki, commander of its Sourthern Front and one of the few remaining senior commanders, was killed.

The Hezbollah commanders were meeting in an underground bunker in Beirut’s Dahieh district, a Shi’ite and Hezbollah stronghold. The bunker was below civilian buildings and  53 meters away from a  UN school, according to an aerial map released by the IDF.

Earlier on Sunday, Israel confirmed the killing of the commander of Hezbollah’s Preventive Security Unit, Nabil Qaouk, in a separate airstrike.

After the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023, Hezbollah began firing rockets and launching drones at northern Israel communities, killing 49 people. On Sunday, the Israeli government said 68,000 northern residents are currently displaced after being forced to evacuate their homes. Nasrallah and other Hezbollah leaders have repeatedly said they would continue the attacks to prevent Israelis from returning to their homes.

Israel’s official war goals include securely returning northern residents to their homes.

Israeli officials call for Hezbollah to be disarmed and removed from southern Lebanon in compliance with UN Security Council resolution 1701. Expectations of a ground invasion rose on Wednesday following comments by Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Herzi Halevi and an announcement that the military was remobilizing two reservist brigades for the northern front.
