Jerusalem, 9 October, 2024 (TPS) -- Ahmad Jabarin, the Israeli-Arab who injured seven people in a stabbing rampage in Hadera on Wednesday, may have had contact with Palestinian terror groups in Jenin.

An undated photograph circulating on Arabic social media showed Jabarin, a 36-year-old resident of Umm el-Fahm, with Wiam al-Hariri, one of the leaders of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades in Jenin. Hariri was killed during an Israeli counterterror raid in the Jenin refugee camp in November 2023.

Palestinian sources told The Press Service of Israel they believed the photo was taken in the Jenin area, saying there was no way Hariri would have entered Israel.

Jabarin fled the attack on a motorcycle but was shot and injured.

Umm el-Fahm is south of Haifa in an area known as “the Arab Triangle” for its concentration of Arab community. The Umm el-Fahm municipality denounced Jabarin’s attack.

“The Umm al-Fahm Municipality and the residents of Umm al-Fahm strongly condemn the attack in which innocent people were harmed. The municipality and residents of Umm al-Fahm believe in and are committed to shared living, and in practice maintain neighborly relations based on mutual respect and partnership with our neighbors in Hadera and the surrounding area,” the statement said.

The Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera said one victim was in life-threatening condition, one in critical condition, four in moderate condition, and one with minor injuries. Two additional people were treated for anxiety and released to their homes.
