Bulgarian Olympic Committee Set to Break Free From Legal Gridlock
Jerusalem, 3 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Sofia (BTA) – The long-running legal dispute surrounding the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC) is expected to come to an end after more than a year, according to BOC President-elect Vesela Lecheva’s legal team. The development follows the withdrawal of lawsuits by Stanka Zlateva, Belcho Goranov and Plamen Krastev, who had challenged decisions taken at the Committee’s General Assembly on March 19, 2025.
Lecheva’s legal representatives said the three plaintiffs, acting through their lawyers, had formally withdrawn their claims contesting the assembly’s resolutions. Courts are now expected to issue final rulings, after which Lecheva and the members of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee’s Executive Bureau can be officially registered in the Commercial Register.
The move is seen as the conclusion of a legal saga that has hindered BOC’s work for over a year. According to the Committee, these steps are aimed at restoring institutional stability and fostering unity within Bulgarian sport.
Lecheva expressed gratitude to the members of the Executive Bureau who stood by their decisions and principles. She and her team, the statement added, will continue to act transparently and keep the sporting community and the media informed about their next steps.
