6.4 Magnitude Quake Jolts Philippine Island

Jerusalem, 12 September, 2023 (TPS) -- LAOAG CITY, Sept. 12, 2023 (PNA)
A 6.4 magnitude earthquake jolted parts of northern Luzon on Tuesday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Phivolcs said it traced the quake’s epicenter 26 kilometers northwest of Dalupiri Island in Calayan, Cagayan province.

The earthquake, which hit the area at around 7:03 p.m., was of tectonic origin and was 10 kilometers deep.

While expecting no damage, Phivolcs advised the public to take extra precaution as aftershocks are expected.
