Hezbollah Commanders Killed in Israeli Airstrikes
Jerusalem, 4 November, 2024 (TPS) -- Israeli jets killed a commander in Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force and another responsible for transferring weapons, the Israel Defense Forces said on Monday.
Riach Racha Ghazawi, who commanded one of Radwan’s anti-tank formations and also recruited people for Hezbollah, was killed in the southern Lebanese area of As-Sultaniyah.
According to the army, Ghazawi promoted and carried out many attacks. He was making plans to fire anti-tank missiles at the rear of Israeli forces operating in southern Lebanon.
In another attack, Air Force fighter jets struckseveral buildings in the Safad El Battikh area of southern Lebanon where Hezbollah squads were operating. Among those killed was a commander in Hezbollah’s headquarters responsible for transferring weapons and recruiting members in the area of Bint Jbeil.
Earlier on Monday, the IDF confirmed the deaths of Abu Ali Rida, who commanded Hezbollah forces in the southern Lebanese area of Baraachit, and Ahmed Al-Dalu, a member of Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s military intelligence unit in Gaza. Al-Dalu participated in the October 7 attack on Kibbutz Kfar Aza.
After the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023, Hezbollah began firing rockets and launching drones at northern Israel communities daily. More than 68,000 residents of northern Israel are displaced from their homes. Hezbollah leaders have repeatedly said they would continue the attacks to prevent Israelis from returning to their homes.
According to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 Second Lebanon War, the terror group is forbidden from operating in southern Lebanon.
At least 1,200 people were killed, and 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage in Hamas’s attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on October 7. Of the 97 remaining hostages, more than 30 have been declared dead. Hamas has also been holding captive two Israeli civilians since 2014 and 2015, and the bodies of two soldiers killed in 2014.
