Israel To Create A Permanent Secretariat with Greece And Cyprus

Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis announced today that Greece, Israel and Cyprus support “the activation of a Permanent Secretariat of their Trilateral Cooperation Scheme based in Nicosia for our better coordination”.

Speaking in Athens following the completion of a trilateral meeting with his Israeli and Cypriot counterparts Gideon Saar and Konstantinos Kombos, the Greek FM also underlined that Israel, Greece and Cyprus, “look forward to the expansion of their trilateral partnership with the re-activation of the ‘3+1’ (Scheme) with the participation of the United States,” adding that he raised the issue with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during their recent meeting in Washington, receiving “a positive response in principle.”

Gerapetritis also announced that the GSI project, a joint electricity interconnection between Israel, Greece and Cyprus is to proceed as planned. He added that all three countries reaffirmed, what he called, “our joint actions and energy cooperation and connectivity,”
