Jerusalem, 20 May, 2024 (TPS) -- Two terrorists who held senior roles in the Hamas-run police force were killed in separate airstrikes in Gaza, the Israel Defense Forces announced on Monday morning.

Killed in one strike was Zaher Huli, also known as “Abu Hamed” who worked in the camps of central Gaza. According to the IDF, Zaher leveraged his position to foster connections with other Hamas terrorists and promote terror attacks against the Israeli home front.

A separate airstrike killed Rami Khalil Faki in the central Gaza area of Nuseirat on Saturday. He commanded armed terrorists who carried out attacks against Israeli troops. Killed with Faki were his deputy and four other Hamas operatives.

Gaza’s police force has been under the jurisdiction of Hamas since the terror group violently seized control of the Strip in 2007. Many senior officers are members of Hamas.

At least 1,200 people were killed, and 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage in Hamas’s attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on October 7. Of the 128 remaining hostages, some 40 are believed dead.
