Israeli Forces in New Firefight with Hamas in Gaza-Area Kibbutz
Jerusalem, 8 October, 2023 (TPS) -- Israeli forces are battling Hamas terrorists in Kibbutz Kfar Aza, near the Gaza border, the Israeli Defense Forces said on Sunday.
The IDF is still searching for terrorists more than 24 hours after Hamas infiltrated a number of Israeli communities on Saturday.
“As of this hour, there are forces fighting in Kfar Aza,” said IDF spokesman, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari.
The Tazpit Press Service reported on Sunday morning that dozens of Hamas terrorists are stranded in groves, dunes and other areas near the Gaza, unable to return to the Strip.
Hamas terrorists were equipped with Israeli cell phones before infiltrating Israel on Saturday. However, Israel cut off electricity to Gaza. Without wifi and amid Israeli soldiers searching for them, the terrorists asked Hamas headquarters for instructions. It is believed that Hamas may launch a fresh attack to cover the return of its terrorists.
Meanwhile, the city of Sderot was hit by a barrage of rocket fire close to midday. The municipality said two people were injured and six buildings took direct hits.
