Israeli-German Raver Confirmed Dead From Oct. 7 Attack
Jerusalem, 30 October, 2023 (TPS) -- Israel’s Foreign Ministry announced it had confirmed the death of Shani Louk, a 23 year-old German-Israeli national who was taken captive by Hamas from a music festival during the terror group’s Oct. 7 assault on southern Israel.
“We are devastated to share that the death of 23 year-old German-Israeli Shani Luk was confirmed,” the ministry posted on X, formerly called Twitter.
“Shani who was kidnapped from a music festival and tortured and paraded around Gaza by Hamas terrorists, experienced unfathomable horrors. Our hearts are broken. May her memory be a blessing,” the post added.
Louk was last seen in videos half-naked and apparently unconscious, lying in a pickup truck filled with armed Palestinians.
Her body has not been recovered, but Hebrew media reports have quoted relatives that a piece of bone from the base of her skull was recovered and identified. The family was notified that a person cannot survive without that part of the skull.
Louk was one of 3,000 people attending the Supernova Sukkot Music Festival on the grounds of Kibbutz Re’im, next to Gaza. At least 260 people were killed there while others — including several Germans — were taken to Gaza as hostages.
