Palestinian report: IDF surrounding hideout of Barkan terrorist
According to Palestinian reports, the IDF is surrounding a house in the village of Shweika near Tulkarem in northern Samaria, where 23-year-old Ashraf Naalwa, the Palestinian who murdered two Israelis, 28-year-old Kim Levengrond-Yehezkel and 35-year-old Ziv Hajbi, may be hiding. The IDF and Shin Bet have been on a manhunt for Naalwa since the October 7 attack at the Alon Metal factory in the Barkan Industrial Zone.
Attempted stabbing attack in Kfar Adumim
A Palestinian has been shot after attempting to carry out a stabbing attack at a gas station in Kfar Adumim in the Judean Desert, 10 kilometers south-east of Jerusalem.
According to Israel Police, she approached several Border Police officers at the gas station while armed with a knife. She pulled out the knife, but was shot and neutralized by one of the officers before she was able to carry out the attack.
No injuries were reported aside of the terrorist. She was evacuated to hospital.
Home of Barkan terrorist to be demolished
The IDF’s Central Command chief Maj.-Gen. Nadav Padan issued a demolition order for two stories of the home belonging to the family of the Barkan Industrial Zone terrorist, the IDF announced on Tuesday .
On October 7, 23-year-old Ashraf Naalwa, from the town of Shweika in northern Samaria murdered two Israelis – 28-year-old Kim Levengrond-Yehezkel and 35-year-old Ziv Hajbi – at Alon recycling factory located in the Barkan Industrial Zone in a terrorist attack.
Naalwa who had previously worked at the factory for seven months, forced an Arab cleaner to tie up his victims at gunpoint, and then shot them both at point blank range. He later shot and injured a third employee.
Naalwa fled the scene and he has since been on the run. Following the shooting, the IDF raided his home town and made several arrests. Family members – including his brother and sister – were detained, questioned and later released.
The IDF and Shin Bet have been on manhunt for Naalwa, who is believed to be armed and dangerous.
The Naalwa residence, in the village of Shweika, will remain partially intact, with the demolition to be limited to the two floors used by only by the terrorist.
The order was signed, after the terrorists family requested that the home be left fully intact. This was rejected.
“The security forces continue their hunt for the terrorist and will continue to act determinedly to thwart terror attacks and to deter potential terrorists.” IDF spokesperson said.
19 people arrested in Judea and Samaria overnight
Nineteen people were arrested overnight on Tuesday in Judea and Samaria, the IDF confirmed on Tuesday morning.
“During the night, IDF soldiers, Shin Bet forces, the Border Police and the Israel Police arrested 19 wanted persons suspected of involvement in terrorist activities, popular terror and violent disturbances against civilians and soldiers,” it said. “The suspects were transferred for questioning as a corporal.”
Meanwhile, overnight on Monday, the IDF said that 17 Palestinians had been arrested in connection with terrorist activity and “violent disturbances.”
Liberman on death penalty: ‘We won’t give up until the mission is accomplished’
Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman announced that his law proposal, demanding the death penalty for terrorists will be brought to discussion at the next meeting of the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee next Wednesday, and then be brought to a Knesset for a first reading vote.
“We will not give up until the mission is completed,” Liberman, whose been pushing for a death penalty for the past three years, tweeted about the measure.
