Netanyahu, Putin hold phone call, schedule meeting
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Sunday that he has spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin and that they would meet in the near future to discuss security coordination between the IDF and the Russian military. The meeting will be the first since the September 17 incident in which a Russian intelligence plan with 15 military personnel was shot down by Syrian air defense batteries during an IDF strike on an Iranian military depot supplying advanced weapons to Hezbollah. “Israel will continue to operate to prevent Iran from military entrenchment in Syria and to prevent it from transferring lethal weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon,” Netanyahu said at the start of the weekly Cabinet meeting.
Islamic Jihad claims responsibility for Barkan shooting
Sunday morning’s attack in the industrial area near Ariel in the Samaria is “a response to Israel’s crimes in Gaza, Jerusalem, Khan al-Ahmar and al-Aqsa,” a spokesperson for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement said Sunday afternoon, “We call upon our people to rise up against the settlement terror until they are evacuated, and the West Bank is freed of settlements and settlers,” he added.
Barkan shooting declared terrorist attack
The IDF has declared the shooting incident in the industrial zone by Ariel in the Samaria, which left two dead and one injured, a terror attack.
Three injured in West Bank shooting attack
Three people have been seriously injured in a shooting attack on Sunday morning in the Barkan Industrial Zone, in the northern West Bank, located 25 kilometers from Tel Aviv.
According to Magen David Adom, two of the wounded – a man and a woman – are in critical condition, while a third victim is in serious condition.
Both the Israel Police and IDF said the shooter is on the run and that at this stage the background of the attack is unclear.
Authorities said they are searching for the suspect.
IDF conducts air strikes in Gaza
The IDF conducted two air strikes against targets in the northern Gaza Strip following grenade attacks against troops patrolling the border, a military spokesman said late Friday afternoon. The IDF said dozens of Gazans had breached the border fence as some 20,000 people participated in violent disturbances.
