IDF Detains Three Including Hamas Member in Hebron

Among the three suspects detained by IDF forces on Monday night, was a member of the Hamas terrorist organization. The IDF arrested three Palestinians in Jenin and Hebron, including two who are wanted for participating in “terror activities.”

 

Mexico Changes Position; UNESCO Re-Votes on Jerusalem Resolution

Just one day before the UNESCO executive board was set to close proceedings regarding its controversial resolution denying any Jewish connection to the Temple Mount and Western Wall, Mexico took issue with the section of the resolution that refers to Jerusalem’s holy sites only by its Islamic names only and has changed its position on the resolution. Although discussions on the resolution were reopened, a majority of countries passed the Arab-backed resolution on Tuesday. The resolution ignores Jewish and Christian ties to Jerusalem’s holy sites.

Israeli UN Ambassador Danny Danon on UNESCO and new UN Secretary-General

Israeli UN Ambassador Danny Danon, commented on the decision of UNESCO on Jerusalem and on the appointment of the incoming UN Secretary-General, Portuguese Antonio Guterres, appointed today by the UN General Assembly.

“I congratulate Mr. Guterres on his election and wish him  success in this important position. On the day that the UN institutions are slandering Israel anew and the UNESCO passes a resolution attempting to sever the historical connection of the Jewish people with Jerusalem, I expect the new secretary-general will be a fair leader to stop this obsession with Israel and our partnering against anti-Semitic and anti-Israel forces amidst the UN.”

Antonio Guterres is expected to assume office in early January 2017, which will be followed by mukltiple changes in the organization’s leadership.

 

Car-Ramming Attack near Jerusalem, Two Men Wounded

A car-ramming attack occurred around 1 p.m. at the A-Zaim checkpoint between Jerusalem and Maale Adumim.

Jerusalem Police said that a car arrived from the Jerusalem neighborhood of A-Tur and approached the checkpoint in violation of traffic regulations. When the driver noticed a Border Police jeep blocking his path, he accelerated towards the village of A-Zaim and hit the jeep and a police vehicle before fleeing the scene. Two border policemen in their 40s were lightly injured and were treated by Magen David Adom.

Police said that forces were searching the area to locate the suspected assailants and their vehicle, stressing that all possible motives were being investigated.

Name of Second Attack Victim Released

Jerusalem Police have confirmed that the second casualty of this morning’s terror attack was Levana Malichi. She was approximately 60 years old.
