IDF Arrests Suspect who Crossed from Lebanon into Israel
IDF forces arrested a suspect who crossed from Lebanon into Israeli territory, the military stated Sunday.
IDF observation posts identified on Saturday night a suspect who crossed from Lebanon into Israeli territory in the Har Dov area.
IDF forces immediately arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect who was transferred for questioning by security forces.
The Har Dov has been the site of multiple Hezbollah attacks over the years.
IDF troops stationed on Israel’s border with Lebanon captured and arrested a Lebanese man who intentionally crossed into Israeli territory in mid-January, apparently acting as a scout for the Hezbollah terror organization.
The man, a shepherd, intentionally crossed the Blue Line from Lebanon into Israeli territory in the Har Dov area.
The suspect was transferred to security forces for further questioning.
Speaker Pelosi Calls Netanyahu to Discuss 2-State Solution
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke on Wednesday with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “reaffirm the unbreakable bond between our nations and Congress’s unwavering support for a safe and secure Israel.”
Pelosi said that she discussed “COVID-19 response and our shared hope for regional peace, including a just, stable and enduring two-state solution.”
Netanyahu’s office has yet to comment on the conversation.
This conversation came a few days after Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi in a discussion that focused on the defunct peace process between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
Blinken addressed the US approach towards “a more peaceful, secure, and prosperous future for Israelis, Palestinians, and the greater Middle East.”
He also emphasized the Biden Administration’s “belief that the two-state solution is the best way to ensure Israel’s future as a Jewish and democratic state, living in peace alongside a viable and democratic Palestinian state.”
Soldier Seriously Wounded in Shooting Incident; Investigation Launched
An IDF soldier was seriously wounded on Tuesday night at a military base in the Jordan Valley.

An IDF spokesman stated Wednesday morning that a preliminary investigation into the circumstances of the serious injury shows that the soldier was apparently wounded as a result of gunfire from another soldier in the base.
The soldier’s family has been notified.
Earlier this week, a soldier manning a checkpoint near the city of Modi’in was also lightly wounded in a shooting accident.

The police received a report about a suspicious person on his way to the Mizmoria checkpoint in the south of the city. Police forces searched for him until he was located.
The suspect, 27, from the nearby village of Tzur Baher, noticed the policemen searching for him and threw his knife at the side of the road.
In his initial interrogation, he claimed that he wanted to harm the security forces due to the death of his mother.
The would-be terrorist was arrested and taken for questioning in the Central Unit of the Jerusalem Police District.
