‘Stop the War’: Gaza Demonstrations Against Hamas Continue for Second Day
Jerusalem, 26 March, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday that Palestinian protests in Gaza against Hamas entering their second day are proof that Israel’s military strategy is working.
“In recent days, we have seen something we have never seen before—public protests against Hamas rule in Gaza,” Netanyahu stated during a parliamentary debate. “This shows that our policy is working.”
For the second consecutive day, hundreds of Palestinians demonstrated in northern Gaza calling for an end to the war and demanding that Hamas relinquish control of the territory. Protesters chanted “Hamas out” and held signs reading “Stop the war” and “We want to live in peace.”
Others were heard saying that Hamas was “hiding among the youth, and we are the ones suffering.”
Speaking at the Knesset, Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s war objectives of dismantling Hamas, securing the release of the remaining hostages, and ensuring that Gaza can never again threaten Israel.
“We are determined to achieve all the goals of the war,” he said. “We eliminated tens of thousands of terrorists and senior murderers. We have destroyed terrorist infrastructure.”
Netanyahu vowed that military operations would continue until Hamas releases the 59 hostages still held in Gaza.
“As long as Hamas persists in refusing to release our hostages, the pressure we apply will become stronger and stronger,” he warned. “This includes capturing territories and other moves I will not elaborate on here.”
Arabic analysts on Telegram taking note of the videos said that Fatah supporters in Gaza are using their social media platforms to call residents of the Strip to protest.
Netanyahu also asserted that Israel’s actions have shifted regional dynamics.
“We are changing the face of the Middle East,” he said, pointing to Israel Defense Forces operations targeting Iran-backed terror groups. “We have dismantled large parts of the axis of evil.”
At least 1,180 people were killed, and 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage in Hamas’s attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on October 7. Of the 59 remaining hostages, 36 are believed to be dead.
