Hamas Fires Long-Range Rocket at Haifa; No Injuries Reported
Jerusalem, 25 October, 2023 (TPS) -- Palestinian terrorists in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip fired a long-range missile that set off sirens in towns just south of Haifa on Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed.
The military said the projectile exploded mid-air.
There were no reports of injuries, the Magen David Adom emergency medical service said.
Hamas took responsibility for the attack, claiming it had fired an R-160 missile. The R-160 “Rantisi” is made by Hamas and has an estimated range of 160 kilometers (100 miles).
On Oct. 12, the IDF said a long-range rocket fired from Gaza hit an open area in the Carmel region near Haifa, causing no damage.
On Tuesday afternoon, Palestinian terrorists in the Strip launched a massive barrage of rockets at central Israel, sending more than a million people running for shelter.
Hamas took responsibility for the attack, confirming in a statement that it fired a “heavy barrage towards the Tel Aviv area.”
At least three people sustained injuries, Magen David Adom reported.
Meanwhile, a direct rocket impact in the western Samaria community of Alfei Menashe destroyed a residential structure. The home’s three residents, including a woman in her 70s, had entered the safe room and were unharmed, MDA said.
On Monday, the IDF shot down a drone that infiltrated Israel by sea from Lebanon and set off sirens in the Acre region on Israel’s northern coast for the first time since war erupted with Hamas’s Oct. 7 cross-border massacre.
As of Sunday, terrorist groups had fired more than 7,400 rockets into Israel since Oct. 7.
