Jerusalem, 25 June, 2024 (TPS) -- Israeli aircraft struck a building on the campus of Islamic University in northern Gaza used by Hamas terrorists as a base for attacking soldiers, the Israel Defense Forces said on Tuesday.

The structure destroyed in Monday night’s airstrike was used for anti-tank fire, targeting, and as a point to both observe Israeli forces and launch attacks.

Aerial surveillance checks, precise munitions, and additional intelligence measures were used to mitigate harm to civilians.

The army has repeatedly found Hamas weapons, tunnel shafts and command centers in schools, hospitals, homes and UN facilities. In recent days, Israeli airstrikes and raids have targeted buildings used by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in a UNRWA facility, a Gaza university and residential homes, as well as a rocket launching site placed inside a humanitarian zone.

Meanwhile, Israeli aircraft and ground forces destroyed Hamas infrastructure sites containing tunnels in the Rafah area.

The Air Force also struck Hamas positions adjacent to the point from which rockets were fired at Israel.

The Air Force also struck terrorists and weapons storage sites in other areas of Gaza.

At least 1,200 people were killed, and 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage in Hamas’s attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on October 7. Of the 116 remaining hostages, more than 30 are believed dead.
