Israel Strikes Hamas Weapons Cache Stored by Gaza City School Compound
Jerusalem, 22 August, 2024 (TPS) -- Israeli aircraft destroyed a Hamas weapons storage facility adjacent to a Gaza City compound previously used as a school, the Israel Defense Forces said on Thursday morning.
The compound, which previously served the Salah al-Din School, is now a Hamas command and control center, the army said.
Among the weapons kept in the storage facility were rockets.
Meanwhile, in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, soldiers eliminated more than 50 terrorists and dismantled Hamas infrastructure sites in the Tal as-Sultan neighborhood. At one point during the operation, aircraft killed an armed Hamas squad on its way to attack the ground forces.
Israeli forces also continued operations against Hamas in the areas of Khan Yunis and Deir al-Balah, eliminating terrorists, locating rockets, and dismantling terrorist infrastructure.
The air force eliminated several Hamas squads and destroyed a structure rigged with explosives that posed a threat to IDF troops.
At least 1,200 people were killed, and 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage in Hamas’s attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on October 7. Of the 105 remaining hostages, more than 30 have been declared dead. Hamas has also been holding captive two Israeli civilians since 2014 and 2015, and the bodies of two soldiers killed in 2014.
