Israeli-Arab Teen Arrested After Trying to Join ISIS
Jerusalem, 17 June, 2024 (TPS) -- Israeli authorities arrested a 17-year-old Israeli who sought to carry out terror activities on behalf of Islamic State, it was cleared for publication on Monday.
According to the police and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), the teenager — a resident of the Israeli-Arab town of ‘Ara, south of Haifa — planned to fly to Somalia to join ISIS with the intent to carry out attacks. He was arrested in May.
Investigators found that the teen was in contact with hostile figures online, received a foreign passport, raised money, and even wrote a will.
