The Press Service of Israel, Cyprus News Agency Sign Collaboration Agreement
Jerusalem, 21 January, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- The Press Service of Israel is proud to announce the signing of a new partnership with the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).
TPS-IL is committed to delivering timely, accurate reports straight from Israel, presenting the facts quickly and proactively. This partnership empowers TPS-IL to reach Cypriot readers directly, helping shape a more informed understanding of Israeli affairs by being the first, authoritative voice in the news cycle.
The signing took place in the presence of Israeli Ambassador to Cyprus Oren Anolik and CNA Director Dinos Phinikarides.
“In this era of so much disinformation and fake news, it is tremendously important that we have reliable, good sources of information about what’s going on so that people can be educated in a proper way and base their decisions and their feelings on real facts and what’s really happening on the ground,” the ambassador said. “In this regard, I think we’ve made a very good matchmaking here, between two very reliable sources, both in Cyprus and in Israel.”
Established in 1976 and based in Nicosia, CNA operates as a semi-governmental organization.
Andreas Frangos, CNA’s chairman, said coverage of Israel was “Something that I was missing.” He explained that CNA had signed agreements with other agencies of the Middle East, and “today, with your presence here, we feel this is covered well and we open the door for the flow of information and news between our agencies.”
The Jerusalem-based TPS-IL is the only Israeli wire service.
“We are neighbors and we need to rely on our allies and work with our allies. And one of the things that is basic for that is the stories, the facts, the news,” said TPS-IL director Amotz Eyal. “And I’m very happy about this agreement, at this time, and I hope to get from you a lot of information, truthful information from Cyprus and to be able to share with you the stories, the videos, the pictures of what’s happening.”
TPS-IL has cooperation agreements with news agencies around the world, including the United Arab Emirates, India, Italy, the Czech Republic, Spain, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, among others, and a network of television stations in Latin and South America.
