WATCH: Israel Releases Hamas Footage of Operatives Booby Trapping Gaza Homes
Jerusalem, 2 December, 2024 (TPS-IL) -- Israeli soldiers checking a building for explosives in the northern Gaza town of Beit Lahiya uncovered hidden improvised explosive devices alongside a camera that recorded the Hamas terrorists who rigged them, the Israel Defense Forces said on Monday.
The building was destroyed.
In another raid on a weapons depot in the area, another camera was found that recorded a terrorist hiding IEDs in a rigged apartment. The explosives and other weapons that were located were confiscated. In addition, a launch pit was located near the building and destroyed by forces on the ground. All explosives and weapons found at the site were confiscated.
“The discovery of this footage highlights the deliberate and dangerous strategies employed by Hamas,” the IDF said.
Additionally, forces located and destroyed a launch pit near the depot.
Earlier in the day, the army announced the death of a New York-born soldier who was killed on October 7.
Cpt. Omer Maxim Neutra, 21, commanded a tank at Nahal Oz and was thought to have been taken alive to Gaza. Although his body is still in Gaza, the Military Rabbinate declared Neutra’s death based on new intelligence information.
At least 1,200 people were killed, and 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage in Hamas’s attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on October 7. Of the 97 remaining hostages, more than 30 have been declared dead. Hamas has also been holding captive two Israeli civilians since 2014 and 2015, and the bodies of two soldiers killed in 2014.
