Palestinian Fisherman Arrested for Smuggling Weapons into Gaza

The Shin Bet has cleared for publication that a Palestinian man involved in weapons smuggling into Gaza was arrested in April 2016.

Salim Gamal Hasan Na’aman, 39 years old from the Shati Refugee Camp in the Gaza Strip, worked as a fisherman and was arrested by IDF navy forces after exiting the permitted fishing area, according to a statement released by the Shin Bet.

In his interrogation, Na’aman revealed that he was long involved in the smuggling of weapons and arms meant for Hamas and other terror organizations in Gaza. Through the sea, he smuggled ammunition and liquid fiberglass, which is used to produce rockets.

Fire Raging at Flea-Market Near Entrance to Jerusalem

Jerusalem firefighting teams are currently fighting a large fire at the flea-market in the Givat Shaul neighborhood, near the entrance to the city. The fire started at a wood warehouse, spread to a nearby grove to the market building. Some of the market roofs are made of asbest and there is a danger of hazardous smoke being disseminated.

According to the police the fire is endangering a facility used by the Israel Electric Corporation, but there are no reported injuries. Police forces are isolating the area.

Another fire has erupted near the neighborhood of Ramot.

Stabbing Attack in Jerusalem Reportedly Injures One Lightly, Attacker Neutralized

A stabbing attack reportedly occurred near the area of Jerusalem’s Damascus Gate. The attacker was neutralized and one victim is currently sustaining light wounds.

Two Suspects Arrested in Terrorist Pipe Bomb Blasts

Hizma (TPS) – Two suspects were arrested this past Wednesday for alleged involvement in multiple terrorist pipe bomb blasts that severely wounded an IDF officer last week, the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) cleared for publication on Sunday.

Last Tuesday evening, four pipe bombs exploded near the Palestinian village of Hizma, north of Jerusalem, severely wounding an IDF officer. Five other pipe bombs were subsequently located at the scene. The two suspects were arrested the following day in a joint operation by the Shin Bet, Israel Police, and IDF.

The Shin Bet added that the interrogation of the suspects has yielded significant information. Other details of the investigation remain under a gag order.

Jerusalem Fire Department Suspects: Massive Fire Broke Out Due to Molotov Cocktails

The Jerusalem Fire and Rescue service reported that a large fire erupted on Sunday afternoon near the Jerusalem neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev.

Four fire crews were dispatched to extinguish the ongoing fire.

According to a Fire and Rescue spokesperson, there is strong suspicion that the fire erupted as a result of Molotov Cocktails thrown by Palestinian residents of the nearby Shuafat refugee camp.
