MK Ayman Odeh, Chairman of the Joint List party in the Knesset, said on Monday afternoon that if the three Arab MKs who met with a terrorist’s family are suspended, he will consider resigning from the Israeli parliament. “It will severely damage the Arab representation in the Knesset. Let it be left with Jews only,” he added.

Three Arab Mks from the Balad faction, Jamal Zahalka, Hanin Zoabi and Basel Ghattas, met several weeks ago with the family of a Palestinian terrorist, and Israeli lawmakers are now promoting a law that will enable them to suspend them. Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu stated on Monday morning that the negotiations between Turkey and Israel were “close to being completed,” and that a joint statement is likely to be issued “in the coming days.” Çavuşoğlu made the statement during a cabinet meeting in the Turkish parliament.

Relations between the countries were severely damaged during President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s reign, specifically after the Mavi Marmara incident in 2010 when IDF forces were attacked while taking over a Gaza-bound ship, resulting in the death of nine Turks. Efforts to amend the relations have been undergoing for years, with Turkey’s demand to lift the blockade over Gaza considered to be the main hurdle.

Jerusalem Affairs Minister: “PA Collapse Only a Matter of Time”

29 February, 2016   |   8 years ago

“The collapse of the Palestinian Authority is not a question of ‘if’; it is a question of ‘when’,” said Israeli Minister of Jerusalem Affairs Zeev Elkin on Monday morning. “The wave of terror is a preface to the collapse of the PA.”

“Most of the candidates to succeed Abu Mazen are unelectable and will not beat Hamas in the elections,” added Elkin in a speech at Bar-Ilan University. “The candidate with the most chances is in Israeli prison- Marwan Barghouti. This is why when Abu Mazen will go, the PA will descend into power struggles and anarchy and will collapse.”

“There is no point in continuing this artificial resuscitation to the PA,” he concluded. “It should be buried together with the Oslo Accord.”

Intelligence Minister: Allow Deportation of Terrorists’ Families

28 February, 2016   |   8 years ago

Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz said Sunday, February 28 that he would contact fellow lawmakers in an effort to change the law that prevents deportation of terrorists’ families to Gaza or Syria.

“Our job in the government is to save lives, and deportation will lower the motivation of these teenagers to carry out attacks,” said Katz at the beginning of the weekly cabinet meeting. “I’m sure that after deporting a few families, this lone-wolf terror wave will stop. This is our duty.”
