Gaza Terrorists Attack Israel, IAF Strikes Back
Terrorists in the Gaza Strip on Saturday night fired two rockets into Israel, setting off alarms at several communities. The rockets exploded in open spaces, causing no injuries or damage.
In response, Israeli Air Force (IAF) fighter jets and helicopters attacked several Hamas terrorist targets in the central Gaza Strip, including a military compound.
The IDF stated that it will “continue to act as necessary against attempts to harm Israeli civilians” and that Hamas “bears responsibility for what is happening in and out of the Gaza Strip, and it will bear the consequences for the terrorist actions against Israeli citizens.”
Similarly, the civilian measures Israel had planned to ease the situation in Gaza, including the expansion of the fishing zone off the coast, the addition of 500 trade permits and enabling the entry of cement, were canceled.
Over the weekend, terrorists continued to launch bombs tied to balloons from Gaza toward Israel. There were no casualties in the attacks, while some of the bombs exploded in the air inside the Gaza Strip.
The booby-trapped balloon attacks continued despite reports that Hamas had decided to halt them.
The exchange of fire has become routine in recent days, and Gaza based terrorists have fired some 15 rockets since the beginning of the month and some 30 in the past several weeks.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated last week in an interview with Channel 20 that Israel was “preparing for Hamas the surprise of its life,” and that the timing for the surprise depended on Hamas’ actions.
Police Shut Down Illegal Fatah Event in Jerusalem
Jerusalem’s police on Wednesday evening shut down an illegal event held by the Fatah movement in the Shu’afat neighborhood on the eastern side of the city.
Acting on an order, police and Border Police troops dispersed the illegal gathering attended by dozens of people which was meant to protest against President Donald Trump’s Deal of the Century peace plan.
Dozens of Arab rioters threw stones and bottles at the Israeli forces as they were leaving the site.
The police arrested three rioters, two of them minors, who were taken for questioning.
“The Israeli police will continue to enforce the law and restore order while carrying out aggressive and determined activities to arrest rioters,” it stated.
Israel and Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan have been leading a forceful preventive policy against the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) attempts to establish a foothold in the sovereign territory of the State of Israel.
Since the beginning of 2019, Erdan has signed over 10 orders banning PA events or activities in Jerusalem.
In November, he issued a directive ordering the shuttering of several PA offices and entities operating in Jerusalem, including the offices of the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation (PBC).
Israeli law prohibits the PA from opening or operating a representative office or conducting activities within the borders of the State of Israel and authorizes the minister of public security to act against such activity.
Similarly, the PA’s activity in Jerusalem contravenes the 1995 Oslo Peace Accords.
Gazan Terrorists Fire Rocket at Israel
Gaza-based terrorists on Tuesday night launched a rocket towards Israel’s south. The rocket exploded in an open space, causing no injuries or damage.
The IDF did not respond to the attack.
Terrorists have fired 12 rockets in the past 12 days at Israel, and over 25 since the beginning of the year.
Earlier in the day, terrorists continued their launch of balloons tied to explosives into Israeli territory. Explosions were heard at various locations in the south, but there were no injuries or damage caused by the attacks.
The booby-trapped balloon attacks continued despite reports that Hamas had decided to halt the attacks.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated in an interview with Channel 20 that Israel was “preparing for Hamas the surprise of its life,” and that the timing for the surprise depended on Hamas’ actions.
Over 35 Booby-Trapped Balloons Launched Toward Israel
Gaza-based terrorists launched at least 35 bunches of balloons tied to explosive charges toward Israel on Monday, landing and exploding at several locations in the south of the country.
No injuries or damage were caused by the attacks.
Police sappers were alerted to several of the scenes where the explosive charges landed and dismantled them.
The explosive and flammable balloon attacks have returned to haunt Israel’s residents in the south in the past weeks after several months in which such attacks from Gaza ceased.
The IDF did not respond to the attacks.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Naftali Bennett on Sunday issued stern warnings to Hamas following the escalation in attacks on Israel emanating from the Strip in recent weeks.
Netanyahu stated at the beginning of the weekly Cabinet meeting on Sunday that Israel is “prepared to take devastating action against the terrorist organizations in Gaza. Our actions are very strong and they have not yet ended, to put it mildly.”
Bennett held a situation assessment at the IDF’s Gaza Division headquarters, during which he warned that Hamas’ “reckless conduct is bringing us closer to deadly action against them.”
“We will not announce when or where. The action will be very different from its predecessors, no one will be immune,” he threatened.
IAF Bombs Hamas Targets in Response to Rocket Attack, Booby-Trapped Balloons
Israeli Air Force (IAF) fighters on Sunday night bombed Hamas terror targets in the Gaza Strip in response to several attacks on Israel earlier in the day.
Gaza-based terrorists launched a rocket and several balloons tied to explosive charges into Israel. The projectiles and explosive charges landed in open spaces, causing no injuries or damage.
In response, IAF planes struck several Hamas military targets and a training compound in the southern Strip.
“The Hamas terror organization is responsible for what is happening in and out of the Gaza Strip and it will bear the consequences for actions against Israeli citizens,” the IDF stated.
The exchange of fire has become routine in recent days, and Gaza based terrorists have fired eight rockets at Israel in the past week and some 20 in the past several weeks.
Balloons attached to explosive charges launched by terrorists from Gaza continued to land at several locations in Israel’s south and at other locations, over three weeks that Israel has been contending with this threat.
