Netanyahu, Trump Discuss ‘Threat from Iran’

2 December, 2019   |   6 years ago

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump on Sunday discussed “the threat from Iran, as well as other critical bilateral and regional issues,” the White House said in a statement.

The statement provided no further details.

The Prime Minister’s Office has so far remained silent on the conversation.

They spoke after Finland, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden announced they were joining the INSTEX financial mechanism which will enable them to circumvent US sanctions on Iran.

Netanyahu criticized their move saying that “while the people of the Middle East bravely stand up to Iran and its henchmen, here’s the absurd thing: While all of this is happening, countries in Europe are working to bypass US sanctions against Iran.”

“While the Iranian regime is killing its own people, European countries rush to support that very murderous regime. While Iran bombs Saudi Arabia’s oil installations, while Iran rushes to enrich uranium for nuclear weapons, European countries rush to appease Iran with even more concessions,” he charged.

“These European countries should be ashamed of themselves. Have they learned nothing from history? Well, apparently not. They are enabling a fanatic terrorist state to develop nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, thereby bringing disaster to themselves and upon everyone else,” he added.

“Now is the time to change course. Now is the time to ratchet up the pressures on Iran, not to lessen them. Now is the time to join the United States and increase sanctions against Iran,” he demanded.

“To those who favor appeasement of Iran, I say this: History and your own people will judge you harshly. Change course now,” he concluded.

An Arab terrorist was killed on Saturday night while throwing firebombs at Israeli vehicles driving in the Hebron area.

The IDF stated that during an operation to thwart attacks near the village of Beit Awa, the soldiers identified three suspects throwing Molotov cocktails at an Israeli vehicle driving on the road. The troops responded by shooting at the terrorists and hit one of the suspects.

The two other suspects were arrested by the troops and taken for questioning.

The shot terrorist died of his wounds. Arab sources identified the terrorist as Badawi Khaled Masalmeh, 18.

Yochai Dimri, head of the Har Hebron Regional Council, congratulated the IDF forces for their “dedicated and determined activity in maintaining the security of the residents.”

“Tonight they killed and arrested terrorists who were trying to murder residents by throwing Molotov cocktails, a terror cell that endangered our residents several times in the past and tonight was thwarted,” he said.

In related news, Israeli forces carrying out counter-terrorism operations throughout Judea and Samaria on Saturday night arrested seven wanted persons suspected of involvement in terror activities and violent disturbances against civilians and soldiers. The suspects were transferred for questioning.

IDF Demolishes Home of 4 Terrorists Who Murdered Yeshiva Student Dvir Sorek

28 November, 2019   |   6 years ago

IDF forces on Thursday morning demolished the homes of four terrorists who murdered Dvir Sorek in Gush Etzion in August.

Qassim Araf Khalil Asfara, Nazir Saleh Jaber Asfara, Ahmed Araf Khalil Asfra and Yosef Said Attia Zahor of the village of Beit Kahil near Hebron were members of a terror cell who stabbed and killed Sorek, 18, near his yeshiva in Migdal Oz.

He was on the way back to the yeshiva where he was studying, after buying books for his rabbis as a gift for the end of the year.

The cell was arrested within 48 hours.

The demolitions at Beit Kahil were carried out after the High Court of Justice rejected petitions filed by the terrorists’ families against the demolition order.

The demolitions of terrorists’ homes are meant to serve as deterrence for potential terrorists plotting future attacks.

During the operation, dozens of rioters attacked the forces with rocks and firebombs and rolled burning tires toward them. The forces responded with crowd control means.

Defense Minister Naftali Bennett stated after the demolitions that “unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that there will be no more terror, but we must exact a heavy price from anyone who raises his hand against an Israeli citizen.”

In related news, IDF forces carrying out counter-terrorism operations throughout Judea and Samaria arrested five Arabs suspected of involvement in terrorism.
