Israel’s First Lady Undergoes Surgery after Lung Transplant

First Lady Nechama Rivlin, the wife of Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, on Tuesday underwent a surgical procedure after undergoing a single lung transplant last week.

The Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikvah stated that her condition is stable and that she is not in a life-threatening situation her life is in no danger.

“The operation was successful and at this time she still requires respiratory assistance, as is customary after such procedure,’ the hospital stated.

Nechama has been suffering from pulmonary fibrosis for several years. The transplant took place after a long period of waiting.

Armed Arab Arrested at Entrance to Cave of the Patriarchs

Border Policemen on Monday arrested an Arab suspect with a knife at the entrance to the Cave of Patriarchs in Hebron.

A Police Foreign Press Spokesman stated that the-would-be-terrorist “behaved the suspiciously.” Border police approached the suspect and quickly arrested him.

He was transferred for questioning by security officers.

The troop’s response prevented a terror attack, Rosenfeld said.

Family of Terror Attack Victim Issues Request for Prayers

The family of Rabbi Achiad Etinger, who was critically wounded in Sunday’s shooting attack at the Ariel Junction in Samaria, has issued a request asking the public to pray for his recovery.

Rabbi Etinger is currently hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit and is in critical condition after being shot in the head.

Etinger, 47 from Eli, is the father of 12 children, one of whom serves in the elite Nahal Recon Unit.

He was shot while sitting in his car at the junction. He drew his weapon and was about to shoot at the terrorist when he was struck by the terrorist’s bullets.

First Lady Nechama Rivlin, the wife of Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, on Monday underwent a single lung transplant at Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikvah.

She is currently in a medically induced coma, a standard procedure after such an operation.

Nechama has been suffering from pulmonary fibrosis for several years. The transplant took place after a long period of waiting.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu conveyed his good wishes, stating “on behalf of all the citizens of Israel, I wish good health and longevity” to Rivlin.

2 Israelis Feared Killed Onboard Downed Ethiopian Airlines Flight

An Ethiopian Airlines flight on Sunday crashed shortly after takeoff from Addis Ababa on its way to Nairobi, Kenya.

All 157 people on board, 149 passengers and eight crew members, are feared to have died in the crash.

Israel fears that at least two of its citizens were onboard.

The foreign ministry stated that the Israeli consulates in Addis Abba and Nairobi were checking whether Israelis were on the flight and that a situation room was opened in Jerusalem.
