Explosives Found Near Metula Were Smuggled In By Hezbollah

Israeli security officials assume that the explosives found near Metula were hidden by Hezbollah in preparation for carrying out terror attacks in the event of a future war with Israel.

The explosives were discovered three weeks ago by a farmer, near the village of Metula, which straddles the border with Lebanon. Sources told Israel Radio that the explosives originated from Lebanon, but did not elaborate further.

 

Rocket from Gaza Lands in Sderot, No Casualties

A ‘red alert’ rocket alarm sounded at 2:25 p.m. on Sunday in Israeli communities near the Gaza Strip. The alarm was triggered in the town of Sderot and in the Shaar HaNegev Regional council.

Security forces located the site of the landing of one rocket between two buildings at the Sderot industrial zone. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit confirmed the details, adding that there were no casualties.

Reports have emerged that the rocket was launched from the Beit Hanun area in the northern Gaza Strip.

Thousands of rockets were launched at Israeli territory from Gaza during Operation Protective Edge in the summer of 2014. A number of isolated incidents of rocket launches have occurred since,  despite apparent efforts by Hamas, who rules in the strip, to prevent this.

Shin Bet: Israel Arrests High-Ranking Hamas Official in Ramallah

The Shin Bet has confirmed reports in Palestinian media that Israel has arrested Hussein Abu Kweik, a high-ranking Hamas official in Ramallah. The statement said that IDF forces arrested Abu Kweik for “involvement in security-related activities that endanger peace in the region.”

Seven injured in Bulldozer Accident in Galilee

Serious accident in the Galilee Panhandle near the Tank Junction. Magen David Adom rescue teams and IDF medical teams treated 7 casualties in their twenties carrying varying degrees of injury.
Preliminary specifications reveal the accident happened when a D9 armored bulldozer turned over and tumbled over a armored personal carrier.
