Meir Ettinger Set for Release in Two Weeks
Meir Ettinger, the right-wing activist in administrative detention since August, will be released on June 1.
In today’s hearing to determine the status of Ettinger’s case, the Shin Bet security service said it would not pursue an extension on Ettinger’s detention.
Palestinian Authority To Continue Security Coordination With Israel
Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority (PA) Rami Hamdallah said in a press briefing with foreign journalists that ceasing security coordination with Israel is not on the Palestinian Authority’s current agenda.
Hamdallah’s comments were made against the backdrop of an announcement by the Palestine Liberation Organization a couple of weeks ago to halt security cooperation with Israel in protest of occasional IDF operations in areas controlled by the Palestinian Authority.
President Rivlin To Receive Honorary Doctorate Title From Hebrew University
Hebrew University will grant President Reuven Rilvin an honorary Doctorate title today, in light of his current position as Israel’s President as well as his previous honorary roles as Member of Knesset, Government Minister and Speaker of the Knesset.
Shots Hit Israeli Vehicle near Qalandiya, No Casualties
A shooting attack has been carried out towards a Border Police vehicle near Qalandiya, north of Jerusalem. Shots were also fired at an IDF outpost nearby. The terrorists fired the shots from the Qalandiya Refugee Camp, damaging the vehicle but causing no injuries.
IDF and Border Police forces are conducting searches for the perpetrators.
France Peace Initiative Conference Delayed
French President Fracois Hollande announced this morning that the French Peace Initiative conference originally scheduled to take place in Paris at the end of this month between a number of foreign ministers, will be delayed due to the inability of US Secretary of State John Kerry to attend.
