IDF Captures Infiltrator on Gaza Border
IDF forces on Sunday night captured an Arab who infiltrated Israel from the Gaza Strip.
The IDF stated that its forces arrested the infiltrator after he crossed the fence in the northern Gaza Strip. The suspect was unarmed.
No one was wounded in the incident.
Infiltration attempts on the border with the Strip happen several times a week, usually by Gazan Arabs seeking work in Israel. However, the Israeli forces treat each such incident as a potential terrorist attack.
Woman Arrested for Setting Fire to Jerusalem Synagogue
Jerusalem’s police on Saturday night arrested a woman on suspicion that she set fire to a synagogue in Jerusalem.
She set fire to the wooden front door, damaging it slightly.
The Police stated that officers were called to the Nahlaot neighborhood of Jerusalem following a report of a synagogue door that was set on fire.
Officers and forensic investigators launched an inquiry, at the end of which the arrested a woman in her 50s, a resident of the area.
She was detained for questioning on suspicion of arson.
The police provided no further details about her identity or her motive.
Police Arrests PA Arab Who Threatened to Murder Israeli Woman
The police arrested an Arab resident of Palestinian Authority (PA) who was in Israel illegally after he threatened to murder an Israeli woman with whom he had a dispute.
The police stated Thursday that after receiving a complaint a few days ago, its investigation revealed that the suspect, 19 from Hebron who was in Israel without a permit, threatened the complainant that he would come to her apartment and harm her because of a dispute that ensued between the two.
The police investigation led to the suspect’s arrest on Wednesday night at a Tel Aviv store, where he is suspected to be working without a permit.
In the meantime, the police are also investigating the issue of his illegal stay and employment in Israel and, accordingly, will commence with the process of closing the business that employed him illegally.
The police will seek to extend the suspect’s detention in the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court.
IDF’s Home Front Command, Ministry of Social Affairs Prepare for War
The Ministry of Social Affairs and the IDF’s Home Front Command on Wednesday are conducting an exercise in some 600 of the Ministry of Labor and Welfare’s frameworks that simulates a massive rocket attack on the country, the IDF stated.
The exercise is aimed at increasing emergency preparedness and is planned in advance as part of the 2019 training graph, the IDF noted.
The exercise will simulate a missile attack scenario and the entering of protected spaces.
As part of the preparations for the exercise, IDF lecturers on emergencies briefed the participants in the exercise.
“The Home Front Command will co-operate with the Inspectors of the Ministry of Welfare and the Framework Managers to enable the construction of a snapshot on the preparedness and preparedness of the welfare frameworks in Israel,” the IDF stated.
German Chief of Defense in Israel for First Visit
The Chief of Defense of the German Armed Forces General Eberhard Zorn visited Israel this week as the guest of the IDF’s Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Aviv Kochavi.
This is Ebenhard’s first visit to Israel since taking office.
The IDF stated that he held meetings “on operational and strategic issues” with IDF officials.
He also visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem and placed a wreath. The visit was accompanied by the IDF’s attaché in Germany, Gen. Ziv Barak, and the German military attaché in Israel, Brigadier General Dr. Klaus Jürgen Häfner.
Zorn is the latest in a growing list of top defense and military officials from several countries who have visited Israel in recent weeks.
