PLO votes to suspend recognition of Israel

The Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Central Council voted Monday to suspend its recognition of Israel and to halt its commitments under the Oslo Accords, including security cooperation, until Israel recognizes a Palestinian state in the 1967 borders with east Jerusalem as its capital. The Central Council is the second highest Palestinian decision making body after the National Council.

Israel wins second gold medal at Judo Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi

Israel won its second gold medal at the Judo Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi on Monday afternoon.

Judoka Peter Paltchik defeated Azerbaijan’s Elmar Gasimov in the under 100 kg weight category.

On Sunday, judoka Sagi Muki won a gold medal in the Grand Slam tournament and the Israeli anthem was played for the first time in the country.

Gili Cohen, Baruch Shmailov and Timna Nelson Levy all won bronze medals after finishing third intheir weight classes on Saturday.

IAI signs half Billion Dollar deal with unnamed Asian country

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has announced Monday, that it has signed a deal to the tune of $550 with an unnamed Asian country, which will be purchasing the ‘Loched Shechakim”, anti surface-to-air missile system.

Canadian FM Freeland to visit Israel

Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland will arrive in Israel on an official visit on Tuesday as part of a Middle East tour that will also take her to Jordan and the Palestinian Authority. Freeland is scheduled to meet with President Reuven Rivlin, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. She will also address the Israel Council on Foreign Relations.

13 arrested in weapons smuggling raid in East Jerusalem

Following a two-month operation, police arrested 13 Palestinian east Jerusalem residents overnight for buying and selling illegal weapons.

According to the Israel Police, evidence was collected to incriminate 12 of the 13 suspects arrested for buying illegal weapons and weapon parts to convert airsoft guns into firearms.

On Sunday night, the main suspect, who has been selling the weapons and weapon parts, was arrested and an M-16 Rifle confiscated from his home
