Palestinian Girl Fakes Stabbing Attempt at Checkpoint “In Order to Be Killed”

21 September, 2016   |   8 years ago

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said that a suspected stabbing attempt occurred shortly after 8 a.m. at a checkpoint at the entrance to central Samaria. But it was later discovered that the suspect had no weapons, and that she had faked the attack in the hope of being shot and killed by the Israeli forces. However, she was just lightly wounded.

A statement by the Defense Ministry said that a 13-year-old Palestinian girl arrived on foot with a suspicious backpack to a part of the checkpoint only meant for vehicles. Security guards from the Israeli Crossings Authority repeatedly ordered her to stop, and then fired warning shots in the air. When she continued approaching the guards they shot her in the leg. No weapon was found in the suspect’s belongings, and she stated that she had come there “to die.”

Magen David Adom medics treated the teenager and transported her to Meir hospital with a light injury in her knee.

The incident took place on Route 55 which links the city of Kfar Saba in central Israel, and Nablus in Samaria. The road was temporarily closed following the attempted attack.
