Man Arrested After Calling Police and Threatening to Carry Out Stabbing Attack

A man was arrested near the village of Hura about a week ago after he called the police, said he had a knife and added that he intended to carry out an attack against Israelis, the police published in a statement.

The police quickly sent forces and arrested the man, a 19-year-old resident of Yatta who entered Israeli territory illegally. A knife was located in his possession. He was taken for questioning and an indictment was filed against him at a Beersheva court during the weekend. He is charged with entering the country illegally, possessing a knife and making threats.

Netanyahu Blesses Egypt on its National Day at the Ambassador’s Residence

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attended an event in celebration of Egypt’s National Day on Thursday evening at the Egyptian ambassador’s residence in Herzliya.

“I congratulate Egypt on it’s National Day. Our two peoples laid perhaps the most important foundations of human culture thousands of years ago,” said Netanyahu. “Today we, and the whole world, are in a daily struggle against terror and in opposition to those who are trying to destroy the human civilization.”

“We must join hands against terror, and we must join hands for peace, ” he added. “Peace between us has been strong for close to four decades. It survived all the bumps, all the storms, and all the challenges along the way.”

 

Palestinian Authority’s Abbas To Meet US Sec of State John Kerry and French FM Ayrault

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is scheduled to meet with US Secretary of State John Kerry and with French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault in Paris later this week. The meeting will reportedly cover the details surrounding an upcoming international conference in December over implementing a lasting two-state arrangement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Palestinian Authority President Abbas: Reconciliation Talks To Take Place With Hamas

The Palestinian Authority’s President Mahmoud Abbas told Sudan TV that his Fatah party will engage in reconciliation talks with Hamas. Among the topics reportedly to be discussed include Hamas’ participation in future Palestinian Authority presidential and parliamentary elections as well as the establishment of a Palestinian unity government.

“We need internal Palestinian reconciliation and fast,” Abbas told Sudan TV. “Without unity, there will not be a Palestinian state.”

The Palestinian factions have governed separately from one another since Hamas ousted Fatah from Gaza in the summer of 2007, and ever since, Hamas has ruled over Gaza while Fatah has governed in Palestinian Authority areas throughout Judea and Samaria.

IDF Soldier Wounded In Gun Misfire

An IDF soldier from the Golani Brigade was wounded when he accidentally shot himself during a battalion exercise in the Golan Heights.  He was evacuated to the Ziv Hospital in Tzfat and remains in light condition. The IDF is investigating the incident.
