Government Approves Liberman’s Appointment as Defense Minister

The government has unanimously approved the appointment of three new ministers- Yisrael Beiteinu party leader Avigdor Liberman as the new Defense Minister, his party member Sofa Landver as Immigrant Absorption Minister, and Tzachi Hanegbi from the Likud party as minister without portfolio in the Prime Minister’s Office.

This follows a compromise between Naftali Bennett and Benjamin Netanyahu that solved the political dispute over the ways the security cabinet operates. According to the deal, a temporary military attache will be appointed to update the ministers on security information.

Many Weapons Discovered in Nablus Overnight, Suspects Arrested

IDF and police forces conducted searches in Nablus overnight, during which they discovered arms and ammunition hidden in houses. Four rifles and two pistols were found, along with many weapon parts, magazines and a large amount of ammunition. The weapons were seized, and 11 terror operatives who held them in their homes were arrested.

Six more Palestinian terror suspects were arrested during the night throughout Judea and Samaria and taken for questioning.

Knesset Vote on Confirmation of Liberman as Defense Minister Postponed

A planned vote over confirming Yisrael Beiteinu Chairman as Defense Minister that was scheduled for Monday, has been postponed due to the continued demand by Education Minister Naftali Bennett and his Jewish Home party for a military attaché to be appointed to the security cabinet for providing ministers with intelligence during war.

Earlier on Sunday, Jewish Home party members said that they were prepared to force new elections over the issue.

Israel Arrests 9 Palestinian Terror Suspects Overnight

IDF and police forces arrested overnight nine Palestinian suspects of terrorist activity and participating in violent riots directed at Israeli civilians and security forces. The suspects, all from Judea and Samaria, were taken for questioning.

Knife-Wielding Palestinian Arrested by Police in Hebron

A 26-year-old Palestinian carrying a knife was caught and arrested on Wednesday afternoon by Border Police forces near the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. The forces discovered the knife in his belongings after they suspected him and called on him to stop. He was taken for questioning.
