Former President Katsav to Appeal Parole Board Decision
Former President Moshe Katsav has reportedly decided to appeal the parole board decision to not grant him early release from prison. He is serving a seven-year prison term for sexual crimes, including rape.
Earlier this week, Katsav’s attorneys requested to extend the deadline for filing the appeal until today, after Katsav reportedly did not want to appeal. Today’s announcement therefore reflects a change of heart by Katsav, who appears to have been persuaded eventually by his lawyers.

Netanyahu Reportedly Offers Defense Ministry Portfolio to Liberman
Netanyahu reportedly offered MK Avigdor Liberman, Chairman of the Yisrael Beiteinu Party, the Defense Ministry porfolio during a meeting this afternoon in which the two discussed the possibility of Liberman’s faction joining the coalition.
In a statement, the Likud party said that the meeting “was conducted in good spirits and at the end it was decided to establish negotiating teams.” Liberman’s associates said that he and Netanyahu agreed to meet again later this evening.
Herzog: ‘Netanyahu Must Choose Between Me and Liberman’
Opposition Head and Chairman of the Zionist Union faction MK Isaac Herzog announced a few moments ago during a press conference that he is currently unable to commit to joining a unity coalition with Prime Minister Netanyahu.
“Netanyahu has to choose between me and Liberman,” said MK Herzog. The Opposition Head’s remarks were made in light of reports that Netanyahu is also considering to invite Avigdor Liberman, Chairman of the secular right-wing Yisrael Beiteinu Party, into the coalition.
