IDF and Border Police Arrest 24 Wanted Palestinians, Under Suspicion of Terror Activity
IDF forces and Border Guard police officers arrested 24 wanted Palestinian suspects overnight, throughout Judea and Samaria. Twenty-three of the 24 suspects were arrested for involvement in terrorist activities and violent disturbances.
Stabbing Attack Near Hebron
An Israeli man was lightly injured in a stabbing attack near Hebron in Judea and Samaria on Wednesday morning, March 24. The terrorist was killed at the scene.
PM Netanyahu Addresses Global Terrorism in Impromptu Press Conference
Jerusalem (TPS) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held an impromptu press conference, addressing the local and global wave of terrorist attacks, in the wake of the Brussels and Istanbul bombings and the ongoing attacks all over Israel.
The press conference was announced a mere two hours before being held and Netanyahu allowed time for questions from the press at the end of his opening address. This is the first time since the 2015 elections that Prime Minister Netanyahu held an open press conference allowing the press to present questions which were not pre-approved.
“Terrorism is not the result of frustration and disenfranchisement, it is the result of murderous ideologies. It doesn’t stem from desperation but from hope, a hope to establish an Islamic Caliphate in Europe and a hope to establish a Palestinian state instead of Israel,” said Netanyahu.
Former PM Ehud Barak: Boots on Ground Needed to ‘Crush’ ISIS
Former Prime Minister Ehud Barak called on the international community to “crush ISIS on the ground in Iraq, Syria, and Libya” in an interview with Channel 2 television on Wednesday, March 23. Barak, who also served as Defense Minister from 2007-2013, described sending in ground troops “to deal with the root” of the terror group as the only way to prevent future attacks on Europe, such as Tuesday’s deadly bombings in Brussels.
At AIPAC, Netanyahu Expresses Hope For Renewed Aid Package With The U.S.
Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed hope for a renewal of the memorandum of agreement of the annual US military aid package to Israel, during his address to the 2016 AIPAC conference this morning.
“We’re now working on a new agreement to help bolster Israel’s security in the years to come,” said Netanyahu. “I hope we can conclude that agreement soon.”
The current memorandum of understanding expiring in 2017, provides Israel with approximately $3.1 billion annually, in military aid. Netanyahu’s Cabinet and the Obama Administration have yet to reach an agreement of the terms for a renewed agreement, however both sides have offered to increase the current amount of $3.1 billion.
